Costanzo and his family at the Caprese Restaurant would like to wish all of you Buona Pasqua (Happy Easter)! In Italy, Easter is the second most celebrated holiday of the year after Christmas. As in the UK, the gifting of Easter Eggs is very popular in Italy but there they do things bigger! At this time of year the shops in Italy are full of giant, beautifully decorated chocolate eggs which are given to adults and children alike. Each egg contains a small gift but luxury, custom-made eggs are very popular where you can choose the gift you want to be inside. Many engagements are announced at this time of year where a young Romeo has hidden the engagement ring inside of the egg, how romantic!
As The Caprese is closed on Easter Monday, we all get together as a family on Easter Sunday to enjoy a full day of eating and drinking good wine without the thought of having to get up early the next morning, bliss! Weather permitting, the children spend most of their time out in the garden playing football whilst we prepare the meal. It’s a time we all enjoy immensely, good food, good wine and great company. We hope you are all doing something equally as good and enjoy the time off from your 9-5 if you are lucky enough to have a day off!
This week has been a very busy week for us in The Caprese. For the past few days, Glasgow has been host to The World Irish Dancing Championships so we have had competitors and judges from all over the world coming in and dining with us. There are literally thousands of them, we didn’t realise Irish Dancing was so popular! Well done to everyone competing and we hope that you have all enjoyed your visit to Glasgow, shame about the weather which has not been ideal for all the big hair on show!
So, Happy Easter everyone and remember, we are closed this coming Easter Monday but back to business as usual on Tuesday. Enjoy your weekend, whatever you are doing!
