The Power of the Internet

Yesterday, I installed a live feed on our blog to see where all of our visitors are coming from.  It never fails to amaze me how powerful and fantastic the internet is.  A few years ago before we had all this technology, we relied on putting pen to paper to contact people or spent a small fortune on telephone calls to call friends and family abroad.  We had to spend hours trawling through encyclopedia’s to find out information which today is at our fingertips.  We can send an email which can be read instantly by the recipient or Skype them knowing that the two-hour conversation to Australia is costing nothing.  Within seconds you can google search for the latest weather in New York,  zoom in on the homes of your relatives abroad on Google Earth, find out who sang that song that has been driving you crazy for ages, self diagnose yourself with some obscure disease because you have all the symptoms listed …..then panic, the list goes on and on, all without leaving your seat!

Having a look at our live feed and seeing that people from far-flung places like Australia, Sweden, Gourock and Motherwell 😉 have visited us is phenomenal and it just proves what an incredible invention the world-wide web has become.  We are just a little restaurant in the centre of Glasgow but our Tiramisu can now be seen on the other side of the world at the click of a mouse due to this technology!  Just a pity that some clever person can’t invent a device that allows you to taste it from afar via cyberspace!  So a great big thank you to everyone for visiting us at our little blog, it’s nice to know that I’m not talking to myself!
